ARTIST COMMENTS:
This series of large garden pastels, completed over the past 4 years, was inspired by visits to Farmleigh gardens, The Phoenix Park, yearly visits to Cornwall, and our own garden . Apart from on site drawings, I used my own photographs as well as gardening magazines and books as resource material and adding in plants where I felt they would suit . Hence the title of the series “In My Room A Garden Grew” . They are all relatively large scale drawings over 110cms square for impact and also to lend to the feeling of being in a garden . The mediums used are different types of pastels on 220 – 300 grams of hot pressed paper.
